I didn’t know much about Croatia before I visited and I wouldn’t mind going back in order to see everything I missed.  Split is the second largest city in Croatia.  I mostly stayed in Old Town and visited the Roman Emperor Diocletian’s sweet retirement Palace.  He moved out (or they moved him out) in 313 AD so this place has been around for a few years.  As throughout my two weeks in the area, dogs and cats were everywhere!
Lots of cool buildings, museums and shops in Split….and sunshine.  It almost goes without saying, but the Croatian Adriatic is amazing.  The climate is incredible and it is one of the sunniest places in the region!  It was interesting to spend hours just wandering the town, turning down mysterious streets and exploring neighborhoods nestled right along with businesses and the town square.  I even stumbled upon a bride and groom being photographed at the beautiful waterfront.  I shot a lot of the townscape but the neighborhoods and locals offered a bit of a different scene.
In between uploading pictures for this blog and thinking through my experience, I have been googling places to stay in Split, Croatia.  I am beginning to see how “dangerous” it is to relive these moments and feel the excitement of possibly visiting again.  I think I could stay!
Somehow I missed a lot of shots, so I think I’ll be back soon…
